    Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Immerse collects, how we use it, when third parties are involved, and how you can request access or deletion.

    Last updated: March 18, 2026

    1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Immerse collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Immerse is a cinematic reading platform that includes AI-generated audio, character chat, trailers, and reading progress features.

When we say "Immerse," "we," or "us," we mean the team operating immersebooks.com.

    2. Information we collect

We collect information that helps us run and improve the product, including:

    • account details such as your email address and name, if provided
    • authentication details needed to sign you in through Supabase and Google OAuth
    • reading activity such as reading progress, saved state, and related usage events
    • chat history and messages you send in character chat
    • subscription and billing status
    • device, browser, and basic technical information used for security and performance

Payment card details are processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

    3. How we use information

    We use personal information to:

    • create and maintain your account
    • save your reading progress and personalize your experience
    • power features like AI-generated trailers, audio, and character chat
    • understand product usage and improve features, reliability, and safety
    • process subscriptions, manage access, and prevent fraud or abuse
    • communicate with you about your account, service updates, and support requests

    4. AI processing

Some Immerse features work by sending prompts or user-provided text to AI systems so they can generate output. For example, character chat messages may be processed by AI models to generate in-character responses, and book-related inputs may be processed to create trailers or audio.

Please do not share highly sensitive personal information in character chat or other AI-driven inputs. While we work to use trusted providers and reasonable safeguards, AI features are not designed for handling medical, financial, or other highly sensitive personal disclosures.

    5. Third-party services

We use third parties to operate core parts of the product, including:

    • Stripe for billing and payment processing
    • Supabase for authentication and account infrastructure
    • Replicate for some AI-generated media workflows
    • Gemini for certain AI processing tasks
    • Kokoro TTS for some text-to-speech generation

These providers process information on our behalf or as part of the services they deliver. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies and agreements.

    6. Cookies and session data

We use cookies and similar session technologies to keep you signed in, maintain secure sessions, and support basic product functionality. These cookies are primarily used for authentication and account access.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may prevent Immerse from working properly.

    7. Data retention

We keep account information, reading progress, chat history, and subscription-related records while your account remains active or as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

If you request deletion, we will delete or de-identify your data within a reasonable timeframe unless we need to retain certain records for legal, security, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons.

    8. Your choices and rights

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account by emailing support@immersebooks.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable law.

    9. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and request access to specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.

Immerse does not sell personal information in the traditional broker sense. To exercise your California privacy rights, contact support@immersebooks.com.

    10. Children

Immerse is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and delete it if appropriate.

    11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy and revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Immerse after the update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
